We here at the Texas Opry have been enjoying a plethora of events during this 1st half of 2017. The quantity, the quality, the variety of productions that we’ve been blessed to be a part of have truly been a joy. Thank you to all our patrons for showing your support and doing your part in bringing quality family entertainment to our community. We are most definitely full-steam ahead in making Weatherford a premiere entertainment destination.
Here’s a little reminder of what’s been going on and what you might have missed.
As is what’s turning into a tradition here at the Texas Opry, a tribute to the ‘King of Rock n Roll’ by THE premiere tribute artist Donny Edwards and the Fever Band got the new year started off right. A tribute to ‘ole blue eyes’ by Nancy Sinatra’s favorite tribute artist Dave Halston kept that momentum going. Following up those two tremendous acts was no problem for Satisfaction-A Rolling Stones Experience. Let me just say it was just that and even more.
Just when you thought you could take a breath, the big boys showed up! Asleep at the Wheel with Leon Rausch, Shenandoah celebrating 30yrs and still going, and none other than Mr. Gary P Nunn. Whew! If you missed any one, or all, of those then all I can say is ‘Don’t let it happen again!’ What, still not convinced? Need more? Okay…. Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn, Whispering’ Bill Anderson and Lisa Layne, Joseph Hall’s tribute to Elvis, and Derek Spence getting us ready for summer with an honoring of Texas’ own George Strait.
Our community stepped up to the plate to let the big boys know that tomorrows entertainers are going to be coming from right here in our community. Our local Trinity Christian Academy’s Spring Musical “Hello Dolly”, Dance troupes Just for Kix, Elite Dance Academy and Mineral Well’s the Beat Dance factory put on shows that could easily have been performed in Vegas or on Broadway! Let’s not forget the Little Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant. Now you have a couple of weeks to take a breather and catch your breath before the summer season gets here. Slow down? We are not! So let’s get ready for the next half.
Brace yourself….5….4….3…2…1…BOOM! Summer is here and so is the LEGEND HIMSELF MR. ROY CLARK! Don’t you dare miss June 24, 2017 at 7pm at the Texas Opry Theater. You might as well get your season pass ticket specials purchased so you won’t miss Jody Miller and Carl Vaughan, Vince Vance and the Valiants, John Conlee and Teea Goans, Generation Qt., Lisa Layne’s “Reflections of Patsy”, Donny Edwards, Dion Pride tributes to Elvis, Charley Pride and the Beatles by Yesterday, a tribute to Frankie Valli by Let’s Hang On, The Million Dollar Quartet, Generation Quartet, Tributes to Garth and Trisha, , then Bobby Bare and Gene Watson, Andy Meadow’s Big Band, Shoji Tabuchi’s famous Branson Mo. Show, Exile, and The Blackwood Quartet with Doug Church remembering ‘Elvis’ Gospel side and Secular music side will close out the year.
